As everyone else, a virus got thru and I had trouble with IE8. Often, the problem is that the hosts file has been corrupted and, in turn, stops everything from functioning without any real visible signs.. if i click on anything in the favorites it comes up instantlymy only hope is to format and reinstall xp... msconfig could not disable the service so despite my best efforts I had to disable it via the registry. Well tried a hell lot of options & don't want to reset my windows. I also have ie and recently chrome, both when I start the programs cannot even load their home pages, and give a cannot reach or cannot find the address error. I was able to prevent it from fully installing. I then Blocked it and Unblocked it again!Now all the browsers work and life seems different! If none of the web browsers on your computer can load websites, see Firefox and other browsers can't load websites. Do you have any concerns about this approach? nothing happens for a minute or 2, sometimes longer, then it finally comes upif i click on anything in the favorites folder.. Report Ozboy› W. The problem is definitely with your browser configuration. rogue malware that says it is anti virus software and reports a virus on your computer and when you launch internet explorer you can only go to their website.

It was the system-wide proxy. Internet Explorer and Chrome use the system wide-proxy when making their requests. even yahoo.com it comes up instantlythe only thing i've updated is a couple of hotfixes from microsoft, and webroot's spy sweeper.. by R.
