Still the same problem! It was a custom model with the following specs:Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GB RAM @ 800 mhz512 NVIDIA 8600 GeForce Go100 GB Hard drive (SATA I think) @ 7200 RPMWindows by the sounds of it the easiest way to get rid of this anoying lil virus unfortunately it involves reinstalling XP.

I can note boot into Safe Mode and I can not use Ctrl+Alt-Del while in the black screen.
